COVID-19 Information

Since the start of the pandemic, Mid Coast Senior Health’s response to novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) has prioritized the safety of our residents. Learn more about the current COVID-19 precautions and safety measures in place at our facility on this page.

Safety Measures

In response to COVID-19, Mid Coast Senior Health has implemented a number of safety measures including stringent hand hygiene, six-foot distancing, and universal masking at the facility.  Enhanced cleaning routines are in place.

Mid Coast Senior Health has also implemented temporary restrictions with regard to its policies for visitors. Currently, no visitors are allowed indoors.

Mid Coast Senior Health encourages the use of laptops, cell phones, and tablets with video call capabilities to communicate with residents whenever possible. Team members can help set up video calls for residents to connect with loved ones. To schedule a virtual visit, please call (207) 373-3646 or email SHC-Resident-Visits@midcoasthealth.com.

Testing

Following Maine CDC guidelines, Mid Coast Senior Health performs COVID-19 testing of all its employees. Surveillance testing of staff is performed weekly due to current community transmission rates in our region. Since December 1, 2020, testing of employees has resulted in 10 positive results due to community-acquired cases. There is no evidence of facility transmission, and no Mid Coast Senior Health patients or residents have contracted COVID-19. Universal testing of 235 employees, residents, and patients from January 15-17 resulted in 0 positive results.

Staff and Resident Screening

Mid Coast Senior Health screens all persons entering the facility. All staff and vendors who enter Mid Coast Senior Health must pass through screening each day on site. Nursing staff currently screen residents with daily temperature checks and symptom monitoring.

At this time, we ask that residents not leave the building other than for medically necessary appointments or emergencies. Residents required to leave the building for essential medical appointments may be scheduled through Mid Coast Senior Health; the resident will then be transported to appointments in Brunswick, Bath, or Topsham by the Mid Coast Senior Health bus.
