Mid Coast Senior Health Center will host a series of recognition events as part of National Skilled Nursing Care Week (NSNCW), which runs from May 13 to 19. The theme for this year’s national observance, "Celebrating Life's Stories," pays homage to the diverse set of perspectives that residents, families, and staff bring to everyday interactions.

The recognition events serve to celebrate the narratives of each individual's most significant life events, relationships, and experiences to cultivate a shared sense of purpose at the center and in the surrounding community.

"We are proud to recognize the life stories of the many individuals in our center and community," said Kim Watson, Mid Coast Senior Health Center Administrator. "This year, we celebrated their unique stories by creating and installing new life story posters for each of our long-term and memory care residents. These new posters help to share their stories, while honoring the contribution each person makes to the Senior Health Center."

Established by the American Health Care Association (AHCA) in 1967, NSNCW, formerly known as National Nursing Home Week, provides an opportunity for residents and their loved ones, staff, volunteers, and surrounding communities to acknowledge the role of skilled nursing care centers in caring for America's seniors and individuals with disabilities.
